Library News & Information
Castletown Library
Find us upstairs in the Civic Centre (lift access available), we are a small, friendly Library with a great selection of books, including General and Suspense Fiction, Crime, Cookery, Handicrafts, Travel, History, Biographies and a rather good Manx and Local History Section.
Our younger members are well catered for, starting with board books for little ones, learning to read books right through to tales of terror and young love for our teen readers.
For those Library Users with impaired vision we also have a comprehensive selection of Large Print books and audio books.
Audio books remain popular with all users and we have recently teamed up with our friends at Henry Bloom Noble Library in Douglas in order that our members may enjoy their digital reading facilities as well – to find out more call in to the Library or send us an email.
It’s not just about books at Castletown Library, we have two public computers with an attached printer and yes – they are USB stick friendly and we have free Wi-Fi throughout the building. Photocopying and scanning services are also available.
We also have a Jigsaw Lending Library as well, with over 100 puzzles to choose from.
We host a Lego & Games Club on Monday Afternoon, 3.30pm-4.40pm (term times only) in the Community Hall and regular Craft Events are held in The Library throughout the year. Check our FB page for details.
Membership is free for Castletown residents and for those living ‘Out of Town’ a small annual fee is payable.
Opening times
We have temporarily suspended our ‘Self-Service’ provision.
A Librarian is present from 11am-16.30 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday & Thursday and Saturday morning 10am-12.30pm.
With so much on offer, there is sure to be something for everyone, come along and find out, we would love to see you.
