Local representatives including Castletown Town Commissioners and Jason Moorhouse MHK have been made aware of concerns in the community and met this morning to discuss what sensible precautions could be taken to mitigate the risks posed to the local community through services provided at the Town Hall.
Services will be provided as usual with the exception of the following:
The Community hall will not be available for bookings with immediate effect. We will contact anyone with bookings made a month ahead to arrange a refund.
The Library will be closed and the opportunity will be taken to undertake a stock take and deep clean. A review on operation going forward will be made at the end of March. If you have any books to return, a trolley will be situated in the foyer.
Commissioners tenants are being encouraged to move to electronic payment methods to minimise the requirement for cash handling and ensure that contingencies are in place, should counter services be restricted at a later date.
Mr Moorhouse MHK will not be holding his regular surgery in the Town Hall, but can be contacted by emailing: Jason.moorhouse@gov.im or calling 210214
A request has been made to the Local Government Unit to consider making an early decision on the possible postponement of local the local authority elections which are currently planned to take place on 23rd April.
Should government advice change with regard the provision of the other functions offered then an update will be issued accordingly.
Whilst we have taken what we believe to be sensible precautions, Castletown remains open for business and we would encourage members of the public continue to support local businesses.
